Every year we see terrible accidents when busses and trucks turn. The BlindSpot Illuminator is an innovative and simple solution that can effectively reduce the number of accidents by warning cyclists about potentially fatal blind spots. The BlindSpot Illuminator is mounted on the vehicle and activated automatically when the driver indicates a turn. A bright light clearly marks the blind spot on the road so cyclists can move safely into the lorry driver’s field of vision.
The powerful LED light can be clearly seen, even in the brightest sunlight. The system automatically dims the light when it is dark, as the light needs to be clear without bothering other road users.
An illuminating concept
The product developers at Fairwood Innovation have worked hard to create a simple, effective and affordable solution that can reduce the number of deaths resulting from the dreaded blindspot accidents in traffic. The need for a mobile illumination of the driver’s blind spot, giving cyclists a visual warning by lighting up the driver's blind spots on the road, has been clear as day to us for a long time.

Mogens Therkelsen, manager of the carrier company H.P. Therkelsen in Padborg, Denmark, who supplied the lorry exhibited at the 2014 Traffic Safety Fair with BlindSpot mounted, is very positive about the solution.
Simple products are often the most technically challenging
The major technical challenge was to develop a simple system that could sufficiently illuminate a given area, even on the sunniest summer day. At the same time, the system had to be able to automatically monitor the surrounding light and dim the brightness at night to ensure that the blind spot was lit up enough to help cyclists, but without bothering other road users.
